Amirkabir University of Technology and Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion Hold Joint Workshop
Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) and the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion (GIEC) held a joint workshop on December 31, 2023, at the Dr. Salimi Hall of the Farabi Building.
The workshop was organized by the AUT's Office of Scientific and International Cooperation and was part of a collaborative research project that was selected in the 6th call for proposals in the Silk Road Scientific Fund (SRSF) framework. The project is led by Dr. Mohammad Jafar Kermani, a professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The workshop was attended by students and faculty members. Participants discussed the future of non-fossil fuels in Iran, the management and optimization of thermal energy for sustainable energy applications, and the next generations of fuel cells and thermal energy extraction.
Dr. Fandming Jiang and Dr. Lin Wei, faculty members at the GIEC and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), as well as Dr. Nader Montazerin, Dr. Mohammad Reza Haji Mohammadi, and Dr. Mohammad Jafar Kermani, faculty members at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at AUT presented their recent research works at the workshop.
The SRSF is a joint scientific fund that is supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Iran National Science Foundation. It is planned to support joint research projects and workshops between researchers from the two countries.
In the continuation of the workshop, a meeting was held between Dr. Roohollah Bagherzadeh, AUT's Acting Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs, and Dr. Fengming Jiang and Dr. Lin Wei.
At the meeting, AUT's educational and research activities, international standing, capabilities, and plans were introduced. The meeting also discussed ways for the university to participate in more opportunities offered by Chinese universities and research institutions. As well as opportunities, supported by Chinese leading industrial cities such as Shanghai and Guangzhou, to expand scientific and research networks.
