The design of the scientific plan in the armed forces of Amirkabir University of Technology became the hub of the country's artificial intelligence.
The Deputy of Science, Research, and Technology of the Armed Forces General Staff announced the design of a scientific plan by this staff and stated: "We have currently submitted this plan to the parliament for approval and its funding for the next year. The revenues of this plan will be allocated to universities and research centers based on the orders and needs of the armed forces.
According to the Public Relations Office of Amirkabir University of Technology, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Nezhad, in the opening ceremony of the research center for digital intelligent systems at Amirkabir University of Technology, emphasized that today the world is moving towards a digital transformation. He said: "It is very important for us to understand what kind of transformation humanity and society will undergo in the next few years. What we understand from our surrounding environment is that the world is moving towards a digital transformation, and artificial intelligence is also gaining meaning in this society. Based on this, we need to recognize our future more accurately and prepare ourselves for this future.
He further stated: "Scientific developments and technological trends, alongside other economic, cultural, and political issues, can have a significant impact on shaping our future. In the era of artificial intelligence, we need to know what capabilities and abilities we must have in order to not be harmed in those circumstances.
The university professor emphasized: "As armed forces in the scientific field, we must strive to provide comprehensive security for the country in this environment of change and transformation. Naturally, the military aspect is at the forefront of this matter, but the influence of universities in other areas is also significant. Indeed, the role of technologies in this era cannot be ignored. Just as the Zionist regime has employed three technologies, including smart bullets, in the Gaza war, increasing the military accuracy by four times.
Nezhad pointed out: "In artificial intelligence, we aim to identify and respond to short-term, medium-term, and long-term needs. Short-term needs are addressed through innovative combinations of mature technologies, while medium-term and long-term needs are achievable through new technologies and algorithms. We must move towards these technologies and needs, as emphasized by the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, and continue to explore the unknown in scientific discussions.
The Deputy Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff continued: "The Supreme Leader of the Revolution also emphasized the importance of research, stating that research should either address the needs or be based on scientific references, in a way that these two aspects do not contradict each other. Because when we move towards the needs, it means that we are addressing both current and future needs. Therefore, this process begins with basic sciences and fundamental theories and leads to applied sciences.

He also noted: "The students of Amirkabir University of Technology are very intelligent, talented, and creative individuals. We should not confine these individuals within specific frameworks in scientific matters; rather, we should give them freedom of action. For example, in the field of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, the conditions are such that resisting this technology will not prevent its occurrence. Instead, we need certain tools to move towards this, while also upgrading our electronic infrastructure and data science.
The Deputy for Science, Research, and Technology of the General Staff of the Armed Forces further mentioned: "We have a strategic perspective on the advancements of new technologies. This perspective emphasizes the need to establish a connection between universities and industry. If our universities do not become mission-oriented and their research activities are not mission-oriented, it is not clear how much the achievements and the human resources trained by these centers will contribute to the country.
Mehdi Nezhad stated: "National security is established when all elements of society perform their duties properly. Universities must be vibrant, interested, and motivated in society. This happens when these centers feel that they can solve a problem in society. This occurs from a strategic perspective."
He announced the drafting of strategic documents for development in various fields within the armed forces and added: "This document has been approved and announced. Based on this, documents on artificial intelligence, materials and manufacturing processes, quantum, biological, cyber, etc., have been drafted for the country's 10-year horizon and approved in the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution.
Dr. Mehdi Nezhad added: "Fortunately, with the announcement of the President, the document on artificial intelligence is being reviewed in the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, and the initial version of this document has been prepared. Both the National Center for Artificial Intelligence has been launched in the Deputy for Scientific Affairs, and the National Council for Artificial Intelligence Steering has been established.
Mehdi Nezhad emphasized that 90% of the needs of the armed forces are considered the country's needs, and stated: "A prediction about the importance of artificial intelligence is that 40% of today's jobs will be lost due to artificial intelligence. Therefore, we cannot stay away from these types of technologies. Based on this, we move towards universities for two reasons: first, to train skilled and highly skilled human resources, and second, to solve the problems that we are facing today and tomorrow.
He referred to the issue of the mission-oriented nature of universities and said: "This program, which is being implemented based on the emphasis of the Supreme Leader and the approvals of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, should be taken seriously in my opinion. Based on this, we have titled our various universities in which fields they are prominent. As a result, we have included artificial intelligence among the missions of Amirkabir University of Technology, and this university becomes the pole of this science.
The Deputy of Science, Research, and Technology of the General Staff of the Armed Forces emphasized: "We have considered scenarios for funding artificial intelligence at Amirkabir University of Technology. First, the government has allocated funds for this purpose, and we have also allocated our own resources to this matter.
Mehdi Nezhad also announced the design of a scientific jihad plan at the General Staff of the Armed Forces and said: "In this plan, 25 methods of collaboration with universities, including theses, dissertations, projects, joint laboratories, etc., have been considered. With this plan, the relationship between universities and industry will take shape in the next 5 years. Currently, we have submitted this plan to the parliament for approval and its funding for the next year. The plan's revenues are intended to be spent in universities and research centers based on the orders and needs of the armed forces.
